Breeding Department

The Breeding department always follows cotton varieties improvement, fundation seed production and cotton germplasm management as three main missions. The main research activity of this department is the evaluation of genetic material to develop adaptable and sustainable varieties with high yield and good fiber quality. The breeding department is responsible for managing, programming, and direct supervision of new cotton varieties improvement, germplasm conservation and nucleus cotton seed development and production at different cotton production of Iran. Cotton  breeding department 

includes sections  :

• Seed control laboratory
•  Gene bank of cotton
•  Genetic and Biotechnology laboratory
•  Fiber technology analyzing laboratory

Some of the department’s achievements:

ü Releasing of 12 cotton cultivars

ü Nucleus seed production at 7 local stations

ü Hybrid seed production
